WHAT IS RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is a form of Web feed. A Web feed allows webmasters to alert their users to the latest pieces of website content (such as news stories and articles), and is presented as a list of new links with short descriptions. These lists can be viewed from within an RSS reader (also referred to as an RSS aggregator) which displays all of the RSS feeds to which you subscribe in one location, so you no longer need to visit every website to search for the latest new content.
Wherever you see a link labelled "RSS" or "XML" (because RSS is coded in XML format), typically in a small orange box, an RSS feed is available for you to subscribe to. Subscribing to an RSS feed is free, and is a simple matter of copying the RSS URL into your RSS reader, although the exact method will vary according to the software you use.
RECOMMENDED RSS READERS
RSS readers are included with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or 8 and Firefox. Alternatively, you can download software like Google Reader, RSSOwl or Diodia free of charge.
