Zappacosta involved as Italy held

Davide Zappacosta played an hour for Italy as they drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in Turin on Monday night.

In a final friendly of the season for two countries who failed to qualify for the World Cup, Zappacosta started at right-back for the Azzurri in a 4-3-3 system under new boss Roberto Mancini.

The Italians dominated the first half at Juventus's stadium without scoring, but they did find the breakthrough shortly after the Chelsea man’s withdrawal, Simone Zaza scoring from close range on 66 minutes.

Domenico Criscito was almost immediately sent off for the home side for bringing down Ryan Babel, and the Dutch capitalised on their numerical advantage with three minutes to spare, former Blue Nathan Ake heading in at the far post.
