Foundation join Carabao in coaching Thai coaches

Chelsea Foundation coaches joined our partners Carabao recently to deliver a masterclass to 360 of their counterparts in Thailand.
Carabao’s ‘Coach the Coaches’ initiative is designed to help raise the standard of grassroots football across the country, and the Blues representatives have been on hand to deliver the sessions across a series of two-day camps in Nakhon Ratchasima, two hours north of Bangkok.
The camps focus on a range of topics, including team management methods, the importance of proper nutrition and on-pitch training techniques.
David Monk, Chelsea Foundation senior international development officer, explained our involvement in the project.
‘We are delighted to be working with Carabao to deliver this fantastic programme,’ he said. ‘Over the years, Chelsea has established a strong bond with the football community in Thailand and through numerous grassroots partnerships and initiatives, the club has continually strived to make a positive effect on the country’s football development.
‘We believe that for football in Thailand to prosper, the strategy for development cannot stop with initiatives that train only players. To facilitate true long-term progress, we must see an improved approach to coaching football in schools, colleges and amateur teams. Giving Thai coaches the tools to effectively manage their teams will ensure the game grows and flourishes.’
