When in Madrid... Visita obligada en la capital Madrid

This was taken recently at my friend’s restaurant in Madrid. It’s my home town and I try to go back there and see people whenever I get the chance. My friend has just opened this restaurant and we went there for dinner. I’ve been friends with these guys since I was very small so it was nice to all meet up.

This was taken in Florence when I was playing for Fiorentina and living there. It’s such a beautiful city, I lived right in the centre and really enjoyed my time there. I will always have fond memories of the place and the country.

This was taken at the l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris in October last year. It's the biggest flat race and I went with my friend and my dad. My family have always been massive horse racing fans and my uncle is a trainer. We went to see a horse of his that was running, although it wasn’t in this particular race. Unfortunately I didn’t win anything that day but it was very enjoyable.

This was my first goal for Chelsea. It’s always a nice feeling to get your first one for a new club. We played really well in that game and beat Everton 5-0. It was a brilliant team performance and I will always remember it. My goal, which made it 2-0, was very pleasing.

Pedro is a very good friend and I like to catch up with him after training. I didn’t know him before I came here but he’s been a great help since I arrived. We go for dinner quite regularly and we went to the NBA at the O2 together. I’m not a massive basketball fan but I follow some of the Spanish players. Pau Gasol, who plays for San Antonio Spurs, had a great year, and I always keep an eye out for him. Him and Rafa Nadal are probably the greatest Spanish sportsmen of all time.

We have been going out for dinner once a month all together as a group, just enjoying each other’s company off the pitch as well. It’s been a great help and the atmosphere within the squad is amazing. You can see that when we’re on the pitch. It’s organised by the manager and the captain and it's good fun for everyone.
